One of the best "KILLER APPS" that linux offers is Amarok, yet one of the first things i always install on every linux box i build (which is a lot) is Gkrellm. For those who do not know about it, wake the fuck up. Its a resource monitor and usually its your first indicator that something is going wrong, it can be configured to monitor TONS of stuff, but sadly there really has not been any theme development on it in YEARS, even the software is not actively being developed anymore but in reality that is cool cause its already perfect and it uses virtually zero system resources yet in realtime it shows you what is going on in your system. But its themes kind of suck, SO i made one that at least i think doesn't suck. You can download it
